Cardy Networks, Main Street, Lower Largo

Cardy Networks is a group of brick sheds constructed in 1867 by David Gillies of Lower Largo. The building comprises three parallel ranges set on a rubble base and featuring buttresses to the south, with contrasting brick dressings to the pilaster strips. The west-facing main elevation has ten bays with five windows, two boarded doors with brick lintels, and a modern garage door. An open cartshed is situated at the north end, and the south end features piended roofs with rooflights and wall-mounted ventilators. A tall brick stack is located at the west end. The roof is slate-covered, with a dogtooth brick nogging at the eaves; it is piended to the south and gabled to the north. The north end is flanked by two channelled painted ashlar gatepiers with cornices, alongside two painted brick gatepiers with cornices, and a similar corner pier to the south. Boundary walls were added in 1872 by David Gillies and include two stugged ashlar square corniced gatepiers to the east, at the north end. The networks operated from 1868 to 1886.
