Description
This is a mid to late 19th century free-standing milepost located south of Muirside. It is a hollow, cast-iron structure with two sides. The milepost features a columnar plinth and a neck band on the shaft. Both rectangular directional faces are painted white with black lettering, arrows, trim, and a finial on top. One side has an indicator panel with an arrow pointing north and the lettering 'RUMBLING BRIDGE ? MILES'. The other side has an indicator panel with an arrow pointing south and the lettering 'DUNFERMLINE 2 MILES'.
