Description
Lochhead Farmhouse is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay farmhouse with a modern section to the west and a single-storey shed to the east. The principal elevation features irregular coursed stone, with raised ashlar margins around the windows, quoins, and an eaves band. There is a moulded eaves cornice on both the front and rear, while other areas are rendered. The shed has exposed rubble.
On the south elevation, there is a central replacement timber and glazed door with a plain porch. Single windows are located in the outer bays, with three first-floor windows centered above. The two-bay modern extension to the west has a door on the right and a window on the left, along with two first-floor windows. The shed is set back to the east and has a small window.
The west elevation includes a ground and first-floor window. The north elevation features two small ground and first-floor windows in the modern extension to the right, along with three ground and two first-floor windows in the main house. An advanced shed is located to the far left, with a plain elevation and a window in the right return.
On the east elevation, there is a first-floor window to the left, and the shed projects from the right gable wall of the house. There is a door to the left on the east elevation of the shed, with an advanced lean-to shed to the right.
The farmhouse has timber windows on the front and east elevation, featuring nine fixed panes and three top-hung upper panes. Modern fenestration is found elsewhere. The pitched slate roof covers both the shed and the house, with crowstepped gables on the house and curved skewputts. Coped gable end stacks have circular cans, while the later west extension has a flat roof.
The interior was not seen in 2000.
