411-413 High Street, Kirkcaldy

409 High Street in Kirkcaldy is an earlier 19th-century building that has been altered at the ground level. It stands three stories tall with an attic and features nine bays above ground, arranged in groups of six and three. This former sailor's home is constructed of polished ashlar, which is painted above ground, and has painted margins. The building includes an eaves course and aprons beneath the ground floor windows.

On the south elevation facing High Street, the left bays are slightly lower and include a timber door with a plate glass fanlight located to the left of the center, followed by three windows to the right and another door further to the right. There is a modern shop situated at the outer left. The right bays feature a timber door with a plate glass fanlight at the outer right and three windows to the left. The first and second floors have a regular arrangement of windows, but bay one on the first floor and bay two on the second floor are blocked. There are three dormer windows over the left block and two over the right, all with piended roofs and slate hanging.

The ground and first floor bays two to six have a 12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows, while modern glazing is used elsewhere. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped brick stacks with cans and ashlar-coped skews.
