Description
1-3 Mcdouall Stuart Place in Dysart is a traditional 2-storey and attic house dating from 1575, with an extension added around 1700 and restored in the late 20th century. The building is part of an irregular terrace and features harled walls with ashlar margins and a curvilinear gablet, along with a doorway that has chamfered reveals.
On the northeast elevation facing Mcdouall Stuart Place, there is an advanced stair tower to the right of center, which has a door with a dated lintel at ground level, a small window above, and another small window in the gablehead that breaks the eaves. To the left, there are two windows on each floor, and there is an additional window on each floor in the bay to the right.
The southwest elevation facing Rectory Lane is symmetrical with four bays. It has a door on the outer left at ground level and three windows to the right, with regular fenestration on the first floor. A curvilinear gablet is present over the center bays, flanked by swept-roof dormer windows.
The windows are timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with pantiles and has slate eaves easing courses. There are coped ashlar stacks, ashlar-coped skews with beak skewputts, and a crowstepped gable on the northwest side.
The property is enclosed by coped rubble boundary walls.
