Description

Piershead House is an early 18th century, two-storey traditional house with an attic and a basement at the rear, originally serving as a shop. The building is rendered with painted margins and features a timpany gable, situated on sloping ground that falls to the east.

The west elevation, which is the entrance side, is symmetrical above the ground floor. It has two fixed display windows in the center and to the left, with a door on the outer left and another door in the bay to the right. There is a tripartite shop window on the outer right, and timber cornices adorn the shop windows. On the first floor, there are three windows, and a small window above the center bay breaks into the timpany gable. Flanking this are small piended dormers that are slate-hung and also break the eaves.

The south elevation presents a plain gable, while the east elevation, facing the shore, has two openings off-center to the left at the basement level, a ground floor window to the left, and two small first-floor lights to the left, with a window on the far right. The north elevation is a plain gable featuring a horizontal timber display board.

The building has modern glazing and 20th-century doors. The pitched roof is covered with modern concrete tiles and features ashlar coped skews, beaked skewputts, thackstanes, and coped rendered gablehead stacks.
