Description
Obertal is a modern villa built in the 1930s, featuring two storeys and two bays, characterized by its flat roof and parapets. The exterior is finished in dry-dash with concrete dressings, including a base course, part ground floor cornice, horizontal banding on the first floor, an eaves cornice, and flat coping.
On the southeast elevation, the main entrance is located in a bay to the right of center, featuring a doorway with stepped reveals and a two-leaf panelled timber door. To the right of the door is a narrow light, and to the left is a broad shallow projecting window. The first floor has two windows with corniced angles that lead to iron railings, and there is a plain parapet in the center. A set-back square sun-lounge is positioned against the wallhead stacks to the left.
The southwest elevation includes two small windows to the right of center on the ground floor, with a bipartite window above that is flanked by two wallhead stacks on either side of the sun-lounge window.
On the northeast elevation, there are windows on the outer right and left at ground level, along with a further modern window off-center to the left on the first floor, and a wallhead stack in the center above.
The villa features a horizontal glazing pattern with steel glazing bars on the steel casement windows. The interior, not seen in 1999, includes a composition floor in the vestibule and a horizontally-glazed timber door.
The property is enclosed by coped brick and dry-dash boundary walls.
