Description
The manse, located at 1 Main Street, Kilconquhar, was originally designed by Alexander Leslie of Largo between 1814 and 1815. Following subsidence, the building was substantially rebuilt between 1850 and 1851, with John Currie acting as architect and George Just providing supervision.
The manse is a two-storey, three-window structure built of local whin rubble, with white sandstone dressings. A central section projects forward. A distinctive doorpiece features pilasters with console capitals, a fanlight, and a block pediment. A rear wing is also present. The roof is slated and piended.
Historic records indicate that Alexander Laing was consulted in 1814; however, his involvement was limited to the repair and extension of an existing, reportedly unsound, manse.
