Description

These stables, part of Rockmount, date to the mid-19th century. They comprise a rectangular, single-storey, gabled block with an advanced gabled coach-house projecting from the south end. The construction is of coursed whin rubble with stugged ashlar sandstone dressings, and a slated roof. The west front features a segmental-headed coach-house opening to the left, followed by a blocked stable door and a door before the advanced coach-house bay, which has a segmental-headed opening and a small loft window above. A rubble wall with square ashlar gatepiers, featuring chamfered angles and pyramidal caps, forms the forecourt boundary. The stables form a group value setting with the main house.
