Moss Cottage

Moss Cottage is a mid-19th century single storey and attic, three-bay forester's cottage featuring a rustic porch. The building is constructed from dressed squared rubble with ashlar quoins and raised margins, and has stop-chamfered arrises on the ground floor southeast side.

The southeast elevation is symmetrical, with a central bay that includes a slated porch with a finial, supported by rustic poles, and a deep-set timber door featuring an etched glass panel. There are windows in the flanking bays and three pedimented and finialled windows above, which break the eaves line.

On the southwest elevation, there is a gable to the right of centre, with a window to the left, and a lower piended bay with a window to the left, along with a lean-to bay beyond.

The northeast elevation mainly consists of a blank gable to the left with a tiny window to the outer right, and a lower piended bay with a window to the right.

The northwest elevation features two low piended bays with asymmetrical fenestration projecting to the right and left of centre.

The cottage mainly has a 12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows, with some top-opening timber windows on the minor elevations. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped ashlar stacks with cans, along with overhanging eaves that have plain bargeboarding.
