West Wemyss Toll, Coaltown Of Wemyss

West Wemyss Toll is an early 19th-century tollhouse that was rebuilt in 1906 and has undergone later alterations. It is a single-storey structure with a hexagonal plan, featuring crowsteps and a pantiled roof, with harl and painted margins.

On the north elevation, there is a small crowstepped porch that leads to a boarded timber door. The northeast and northwest elevations each have a single bay with a window. The east elevation has two windows, with the left window being smaller. The west elevation also has two windows.

The south elevation has been altered, featuring a flat-roofed corrugated extension projecting to the left and a harled extension to the right, with modern windows. The windows throughout the building are timber sash and case, with 6- and 12-pane glazing patterns. The polygonal roof is covered with clay pantiles, which have a slate easing course and an eaves overhang. The roof culminates in a coped square apex stack with cans.
