Description
This milestone, located on Boat Road in Newport-On-Tay, was made by Alexander Russell in Kirkcaldy in 1824. It is a shouldered and slightly bowed cast-iron structure that is set into the ground and attached to a stone wall at the back, near the former ferry terminal building. The milestone stands approximately 3 feet high, 2 feet wide, and 4 inches deep. At the top, it is dated and inscribed with 'Alexr Russell Kirkcaldy Foundry 1824'. The south face features a flowing script inscription that reads 'To Pettycur 33, New Inn 20, Cupar 11, Newport 0'. The milestone is painted white with raised black lettering and margins.
