Description
Pitlour House Ice House, built by surveyor Alex Martin and mason William Simson between 1825 and 1826, is a two-chambered semi-subterranean structure. The front elevation features sloping walls that flank the doorway. The outer compartment has a tunnel-vaulted design, while the inner compartment is conical in shape. The entrance walls are made of squared rubble with ashlar dressings around the doorway. This ice house is set into the sloping wooded ground to the northwest of Pitlour House.
