Lumquat Mill Cottage

Lumquat Mill Cottage is a picturesque pair of vernacular buildings from the early 19th century, situated at right angles beside the Pitcairlie Burn. The mill building to the east is a single-storey structure featuring droved quoins, rubble walls, and skew gables topped with ridge stones, all covered by pantiles. There is a modern opening to the yard made of brick and concrete, along with a small door at the rear that has an arched head. The right gable end has a pit for the mill-wheel and visible traces of the mill-race, with holes for drive machinery evident inside.

The cottage, positioned at right angles to the mill, is also a single-storey building. It has a chimney with a cornice on the left end and a loft door with a swept roof that rises into the main roof. The front features a plain door with a single window on either side, and there is an extension on the left end.
