Description
The War Memorial located at The Green in Greenside, Leslie, was built around 1920. It features a square columnar design with a two-tier plinth that includes fielded inscription tablets on all four sides. These tablets are adorned with cavetto moulding, leading to a battered ashlar column. The column has pulvinated and stugged bands, each face topped with a different insignia accompanied by the words "Endurance, Sacrifice, Valour, Duty." The phrase "Duty" is further topped by the Arms of the Earls of Rothes. The entire structure is crowned with an additional ashlar course that has two vertical indents and moulded coping, reflecting an Italianate style.
