Description
The Dovecot at Durie Home Farm is an 18th-century structure that incorporates earlier materials. It features a two-stage, octagonal design with concave sides and is constructed from large sandstone ashlar blocks. The building has a string course and battlemented parapets, standing 36 feet high.
On the south elevation, the first stage includes a curved door beneath a keystoned roundel that has flight holes, while the second stage has a similar roundel. A cornice leads to the parapet, which has six flight holes on the south and flanking faces.
Inside, there are 1627 stone nest-holes and a potence. The parapet was repaired in the late 20th century.
