Description
The Dovecot at Elvingston is an early 18th-century, three-stage circular structure located in the northern retaining wall of a stable courtyard. It is built from roughly squared and coursed rubble, featuring two ashlar rat courses and a coped, batlemented parapet. The entrance to the courtyard includes a boarded door, and there is a bull's-eye flight-hole on each floor above. A circular stone canopy covers the roof opening, which is supported by six slender ashlar pillars. Inside, there are 764 ashlar nests with potence.
