Description

This milestone dates to 1824 and was made by Alex Russell, an ironfounder from Kirkcaldy. It is part of the Pettycur and Newport Passage road series. The milestone has a bow-fronted plate with a curved top and is painted white and black. The lettering is italic and in relief, reading 'To/Pettycur 29/New Inn 16/Cupar 7/Newport 4.' It stands approximately 500 yards north of St Michael’s.
