Description
This milestone dates from 1824 and was made by Alex Russell, an ironfounder from Kirkcaldy. It is part of a series of milestones along the Pettycur and Newport Passage road. The milestone has a bow-fronted plate with a curvilinear top and is painted white and black. The names of places and distances are inscribed in italic letters in relief: ‘To/Pettycur 28/New Inn 15/Cupar 6/Newport 5.’ The milestone is located near Southfield.
