Description
Balmerino Cottage in Letham is a picturesque single-storey Gothic cottage, possibly built in 1790. The cottage is constructed from coursed squared whinstone with contrasting droved yellow ashlar dressings.
On the south elevation, there is an off-centre modern glazed door, flanked by two 12-pane sash windows in a broad bowed bay to the right, and a single small 4-pane sash window beyond. To the left of the door, there is an ogival-headed window with lying panes, along with an additional sash window in the outer bay. The cottage features a narrow eaves band, projecting eaves, and corniced stacks. The slated roof curves over the bowed bay and has a ship finial, with a gabled left side and a piended right side.
The east elevation has three windows, one of which has lattice glazing. The cottage is enclosed by high, rubble-built garden walls.
