Description
Collessie Primary School, dated 1841, is a single-storey freestone building designed in a Gothic style, with a one-storey plus attic schoolhouse integrated at the rear. The school features an advanced bell-cote on the south front, slate roofs, skew gables with moulded copings and squared ends, and corbelled chimney bases, although the stacks have been removed. The pointed bell-cote on the south gable is supported by cutstone brackets, and there is a three-light traceried window below it. The roof has triple chimney stacks placed diagonally in the center.
To the right, the schoolroom windows retain their original sashes in pointed openings, while the left range has altered glazing, including a modern dormer. There is a second similar range set back to the left, which has original paired chimneys and a gabled dormer featuring an arched bipartite window. Additionally, a short gabled wing extends north at the rear, maintaining similar architectural details, with an entrance located in the angle.
