West End Cottage, Collessie

West End, located in Collessie, is a pair of 18th century, single storey, three-bay cottages with a rectangular plan. Each cottage features a central entrance door on the south elevation, flanked by single windows, while the rear (north) elevation has a single window. Both cottages have chimney stacks located on the gables and roof ridge, complete with thackstanes.

The cottage known as West End (to the west) underwent restoration between 2002 and 2008 by Arc Architects. Its exterior walls are lime harled with exposed stone margins, and it boasts a thatched roof made from Tay water reed, featuring two thatched eyebrow dormer windows. The ridge is netted with clay and blueberry turf. The west gable end includes a single ground floor window and an attic window. The windows are timber, with 12-pane designs at the ground floor and four-pane designs in the attic.

West End Cottage (to the east) has non-traditional render and slated roofs, with non-traditional replacements for the windows and entrance door.

The interior of West End was observed in 2017, where joinery, crown glass, and ironmongery were retained as much as possible during refurbishment. The kitchen includes a fireplace recess with stone margins, while the living room features a fire surround made from reclaimed and salvaged stone. Exposed rough-sawn pine roof timbers are visible between plaster infill, and reclaimed pitch pine was used for the new stairs, flooring, and doors.

To the south of West End is a small former washhouse, which is listed separately at category C.
