Description
The Masonic Hall at 5-15 Lint Riggs in Falkirk was built between 1903 and 1906 and features a Free Renaissance style. The building is three storeys tall and constructed from ashlar, with shops on the ground floor.
The end sections, designed by A and W Black, have shallow two-storey, three-light oriel windows that rise from the cornice of the shopfronts. At the corners, turrets project out at the first floor level. The northwest corner turret is adorned with a cornice featuring carved panels of a shamrock, thistle, and rose, topped with an ogee dome and cupola.
The central section, which houses the Masonic Hall and was designed by Thomas Copland, is flanked by giant Ionic pilasters on the end bays. The centre bay is distinguished by fluted Corinthian columns that support an open segmental pediment with an urn finial. The tympanum is carved with masonic symbols. The windows have Gibbsian surrounds, with the centre and end bays featuring pediments, while the other windows are corniced and include cartouches dated 1876 and 1906.
