Description

The Social Work Department on Newmarket Street in Falkirk is a building designed by William Black in 1879. It features a rogue baronial style and is constructed from two stories of bull-faced rubble. Notable architectural elements include a gabled corner tower with a bay oriel supported by a squat column, gables, angle turrets, and a truncated pyramid roof topped with ironwork. The gables are crowstepped and the roof is slated.
