Description

Farmhouse lintel dated 1794; presumably dates house and steading, with earlier-mid 19th century alterations and additions. Single storey, 3-bay farmhouse, later raised to single storey and attic, linked to steading set at right angles forming symmetrical U-plan layout fronting main road. Squared rubble with (broadly) droved ashlar dressings, eaves course; whitewashed. Grey slates, coped stacks.

FARMHOUSE: doorway near centre, with dated lintel and initials AR, modern door. Windows flanking at ground with 2 later canted, piended dormers to attic. 2 windows (and blocked openings) at rear. Mostly 4-pane sash and case windows. Linked to steading by slightly lower, piended ranges with doors to front, right wing extended by 2-bays at rear, left range currently (1991) roofless.

INTERIOR: cast-iron balustrade to staircase with foliate ornament. STEADING: pair single storey ranges with gables to road. Range to right has 2 doors to courtyard, windows at rear, boarded attic window to gable. Range to left with 2 (later) large double doors to courtyard, slit openings to gable.
