Description
Berryley is a farmhouse dating from around 1800, with later additions and alterations. It faces south and features a steading range extending to the rear, forming a roughly square plan. The gable ends of the steading flank the south front of the dwelling, creating a regular frontage. The exterior is constructed of harl pointed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings.
The farmhouse is a single storey and attic structure with three bays, complemented by single storey, single bay flanking wings that are slightly set back and have piended roofs. The central entrance door is flanked by three later piended dormers that break the wallhead. The windows have 12-pane glazing, and there are end stacks on the slate roof.
The steading is a hollow square range extending to the rear, part of the circa 1800 construction, featuring chamfered margins on the openings and a local stone slate roof. Additionally, there is an earlier 19th century L-plan single storey and loft range at the rear, which includes four segmental heading cart bays and a forestair, all under slate roofs.
The east elevation has three blocked cart bays, with one converted into a window that provides light to the office accommodation.
