Description
Eskside House is a two-storey villa built in 1819, featuring a symmetrical façade that is three windows wide. The central arched doorway includes the original fanlight and narrow sidelights, with railed steps leading up to it. The villa has a piended slate roof and a front made of droved ashlar, complemented by a first-floor cill string course. The south side is constructed of rubble, while the north side is rendered, and there are end stacks. The windows are six-pane sash types.
The property is enclosed by a rendered high garden wall with a battered top, which has a central doorway framed by raised sandstone margins and coping above. There is a modern vehicular gateway located towards the north end of the wall.
In the garden, there is an octagonal gazebo dated 1776, featuring a domed slate roof topped with an urn finial. A chimney shaped like an urn is positioned above the eaves to the right of the door. The gazebo has an ogee-headed window on the back side, situated above the level of the garden wall. A curved parapetted forestair, which houses an external heating furnace, leads to an ogee-headed doorway that also has a fanlight. This doorway is made of sandstone rubble with raised margins around the window and door. The building features nine-pane top and six-pane lower sash windows, and there are brick vaults over the main room and cellar.
