Description
Castleton Farmhouse is a 2-storey, T-plan farmhouse that consists of a significantly altered mid 18th century house connected to a mid 19th century house. The building is constructed from pink rubble stone with droved ashlar dressings, while the later facade features squared greyer rubble.
The mid 19th century section has a symmetrical 3-bay facade on the west elevation, which includes a raised base course. Above the door, there is a consoled cornice and a small-pane rectangular fanlight. This section has higher eaves compared to the earlier house.
On the north gable, there is a single window on the ground floor. The south gable features two irregularly placed windows from the 18th century house, which has been much altered in the rear wing. The windows are small-pane sash and case types, with some incorporating plate glass. The gables have coped skews with imposts and gable-head stacks, all under slate roofs.
