Phantassie House

Phantassie House is a mid-18th century, south-facing, two-storey farmhouse that was reoriented and expanded into an L-plan layout in the early to mid-19th century. The exterior features white painted harling with ashlar dressings.

On the east elevation, which serves as the entrance front, there are steps leading to a raised ground floor. The central semi-circular arched doorway is adorned with a large decorative fanlight and flanked by four-pane side panels, leading to a flush panelled door. To either side of the entrance are later canted bay windows that extend down to the basement.

The south elevation showcases the original 18th century centre block, which has six bays. The entrance is located in the third bay from the left, with small windows flanking it at ground level and six windows on the first floor. Two taller two-bay piend-roofed end wings were added around 1800, featuring two windows on the ground floor and two taller windows on the first floor. There are also two windows at ground level on the west re-entrant angle, with the entrance front facing east.

The north elevation includes irregular service additions of varying heights and an irregular window pattern. The windows are sash and case style with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The roofs are piend roofs covered in grey slates, with ashlar coped wallheads and ridge stacks, some of which have been renewed in brick.

Inside, there are some original woodwork and plasterwork elements still present.
