Description
Pilmuir Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge, possibly incorporating an earlier cottage set at right angles. It is a single-story, T-shaped building. The exterior walls are harled, with margins of droved ashlar, some of which have been painted. The south elevation of the east-west wing has three bays widely spaced, with a gabled timber porch projecting over the central doorway, featuring a small-pane fanlight above. Windows are located in the flanking bays, and a later window has been inserted on the west return. The roof is piended, with overhanging eaves.
A gabled wing extends to the north, potentially dating to an earlier period, with a small window visible by the re-entrant angle to the west, flanked by larger windows. A lean-to addition is visible at the north gable end.
The windows are sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern. The lodge has end and gablehead stacks, and is roofed with grey slates.
Pilmuir Lodge is listed for its setting within the grounds of Pilmuir House, with which it currently shares a uniform orange painted harling.
