Cottage, East Mains

The building is a cartshed and granary dated 1866, located at East Mains, with a single-storey, three-bay cottage positioned at right angles to the south. It is constructed from rubble with stugged and droved ashlar dressings. The cartshed and granary features five bays, including four segmental cart-arches at ground level, with a blank bay on the outer right. Above each bay are square, shuttered granary openings, and there is a sliding machinery door across the outer right arch. To the left, there are two single-storey cart bays or machinery stores with timber lintels. The south elevation includes a high forstair and a doorway leading to the granary, along with a ventilation panel in the gablehead that has a dated stone below.

The cottage has a central doorway with windows on either side and gabled dormer windows above the outer bays. The windows feature a 12-pane glazing pattern in sash and case style. The roof is covered with pantiles, and there are ashlar coped skews and a brick end stack on the cottage.
