Eskhill Lodge, 17 Inveresk Village Road, Inveresk

Wellhead is a single-storey gate lodge built around 1800, featuring a rectangular plan and a circular tower. There is a modern addition at the rear. The lodge is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone rubble, with heavy pointing on the roadside elevation and harl-pointing on the sides. The tower is finished with ochre-painted harl, while the door and window on the roadside have painted ashlar dressings. A later window facing the drive has a rendered surround, and the window in the tower features droved dressings. The main lodge has a grey slate piend roof, with exposed timber brackets supporting the shallow conical roof of the tower, which is topped with a lead ball finial. The windows have small-pane glazing patterns. There is a rubble retaining wall that is harl pointed and ashlar coped, which includes a pedestrian gateway. The gatepiers are made of rusticated ashlar, corniced, and topped with ball finials.
