23 Inveresk Village Road, Inveresk

23 Inveresk Village Road is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house that was linked in the 19th century to a narrow, early 19th century building, possibly a former stable and hayloft, at the rear. This arrangement forms a U-shape and backs onto Roseville to the north, to which it was once attached. The house has undergone later additions and alterations.

The exterior features orange painted harl with painted ashlar dressings, including a base and cill course. The south block has openings set in slightly recessed panels, with a deep-set central door that has a panelled design and a radial fanlight above. There are windows in the flanking bays and in each bay on the first floor. A low, narrow service door on the outer left leads to Roseville. To the outer right, there is an ashlar coped screen wall that shields a piend-roofed single-storey addition on the east and north elevations, which includes a window facing south and another first-floor window to the east.

The sash and case windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern. The house has ashlar coped skew, end stacks, grey slates on the main roof, red pantiles on the later additions and the building at the rear, and red tiles on the garden block.

The garden walls and gate consist of rubble coped walls raised in brick at intervals, with a gateway inscribed "GARDEN" and a decorative wrought-iron gate.
