Description
40 High Street in Dunbar is a later 18th century, three-storey and basement, four-bay T-plan house. The building is constructed of rubble, rendered and lined to resemble ashlar at the front, with plain painted margins.
On the High Street elevation, the door is positioned off-centre and features a decorative fanlight, with a pend located to the left of the southern bay.
The rear west elevation includes a four-storey stair tower, which has a window at each half landing and a piended roof. There is also a later addition to the north, which is a shallower, flat-roofed projection. The roof is slated, with plain copings and gable head stacks.
