Description

The Ice House at Ballochmyle House is likely from the later 18th century. It features an arched entrance and a low, narrow barrel-vaulted tunnel that leads to a deep, elliptical chamber. The structure is made of fine, tooled ashlar, while the walls of the tunnel are constructed from rubble. The entrance arch is supported by large masonry quoins. The building is oriented to the northwest, with the dome and tunnel roof concealed by vegetation.
