Description

Ballochmyle House is a mansion built in 1887 from red sandstone, designed by Hew Montgomerie Wardrop. It incorporates part of an earlier house by Robert Adam. The interior features good detailing and well-proportioned rooms. The estate is associated with the poet Robert Burns, who wrote the lyrics for "The Braes o' Ballochmyle" and "The Lass of Ballochmyle."
