Description
The Bank Viaduct, located over Lugar Water in Cumnock, was designed by John Millar and constructed between 1848 and 1850. This impressive structure features nine main arches supported by panelled pilasters topped with pediments, along with two approach arches at each end, making a total of thirteen arches. The viaduct stands 145 feet above the river. It is built with rockfaced piers that have plain capitals, and the arches are adorned with channel pointed voussoirs and rockfaced spandrels. Above, there are ashlar parapets resting on a half-round string.
