Description
Ochiltree Primary School, located on Main Street in Ochiltree, was built in 1909, as indicated on the rainwater head, and features an Art Nouveau influence. The building is a single storey constructed from snecked red ashlar block. It has a central four-window bay that projects forward, with raised rounded angles, and an openwork domed wooden bell-cote to the right. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, featuring wide eaves supported by modillions. The side wings have entrances for girls and boys that are stepped down to the sides, with splayed doorways and roll mouldings that include upswing loops. Additionally, the original gatepiers leading to the playground remain intact.
