41-45 Main Street, Newmilns

41-45 Main Street is a late 18th to early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay terraced tenement that includes a shop on the ground floor. The building features rendered stone with dry-dash at the ground level and painted ashlar dressings, including a base course, a first-floor cill course, an eaves course, and quoin strips.

The south elevation has a tripartite shopfront located in the center and to the right of the taller ground floor, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. This shopfront includes an in-canted doorway and large flanking shop windows, along with a fascia supported by closing console brackets. There is a two-leaf iron shop gate added later. To the outer right is the tenement door, while the outer left features a door and window for residential accommodation. The first floor has three regularly spaced windows with a tympany gable at the center.

The windows have modern glazing, and the doors are boarded and panelled with letterbox fanlights. The roof is covered with grey slate and features gablehead stacks and thackstanes. The interior was not seen in 1999.
