Description
8 Dudhope Street in Dundee is a villa designed by David MacKenzie around 1850. It is a two-storey, three-bay building with a symmetrical design, featuring an ashlar facade and rubble-built sides and rear.
The south elevation includes a central Doric portico, although its details are unfortunately obscured. The ground floor windows are architraved, aproned, and corniced, while the first-floor windows are margined. There is a main cornice and a blocking course at the top of the building.
In front of the main door, there is a railed brick retaining wall that is considered unfortunate. The piended slate roof has been heightened and dormered, with gable-end stacks. The windows are sash and case, featuring a four-pane glazing pattern.
The property has a low boundary wall that is interrupted by access to a car park, with missing railings and square ashlar gatepiers.
