Description
12 Duhope Street in Dundee is a two-storey, three-bay villa designed by David MacKenzie around 1860. The building is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and has been extended to the east.
On the southeast elevation, there is a central doorpiece with a keystone and cornice. The ground floor features segmental arched windows, with a bipartite window on the left and a tripartite window in the advanced bay to the right. Above, there are square-headed margined windows. An additional single-storey structure made of ashlar is attached to the east, which includes a door and a large window.
The roof is piended and platformed, covered with slate, and there are gable end stacks. The windows are sash and case with a two-pane glazing pattern, and there is a top-hopper window in the east wing.
The property is enclosed by low boundary walls along the street, which have square ashlar gatepiers topped with pyramidal caps. The railings are missing, and there is a garage to the east.
