134A Nethergate, Dundee

134B Nethergate in Dundee is a former photographer's studio built in 1893 by James Hutton. This 2-storey, 2-bay building is designed in the Arts and Crafts style and features painted brick with a gabled slate roof.

The front elevation has an altered shopfront on the ground floor. Above, there is a 4-light timber oriel window on the first floor, which includes border-glazed stained glass in the top lights and a piended slate roof painted red. The gable is adorned with moulded bargeboards and a tripartite finial, while the jettied apex showcases a painted sculpture of a box camera entwined with thistles. To the right, there is a narrow splayed bay with a border-glazed window that has a consoled cill and moulded lintel, along with a bracketed cornice and a plain balustrade.

The rear elevation features a 2-storey and attic studio made of red brick with white brick dressings. The slate-hung Mansard attic includes a large skylight for the studio. The glazing has been altered, and a balcony was added in 1987.

The interior has not been seen.
