Description
10 Laurel Bank in Dundee is a detached two-storey, three-bay villa designed in the style of George Mathewson around 1850, with a later wing added to the east. The exterior features coursed rubble with ashlar dressings.
On the south elevation, there is a central doorpiece with a console and cornice. To the right, an advanced gabled bay has a V-shaped bay at the ground level and a gabletted single light above it, both framed by lugged architraves. There is a set-back bay to the right and a single-storey aviary to the left. The left wing was refronted around 1980.
At the rear, there is a later external staircase providing access to the first floor. The villa has a gabled slate roof with wallhead and ridge stacks, and the windows are sash and case with a four-pane glazing pattern.
The property features square pyramidal-capped gatepiers with a delicate wrought iron lamp bracket above. The low ashlar boundary walls along Laurel Bank are complemented by modern railings, while high ashlar boundary walls are present along Prospect Place. There is a shaped garden wall to the right of the east wing, and the garden has recently been terraced with a brick retaining wall on the east side.
