5, 7 Crichton Street, Dundee

The Pillars Bar, located at 9 and 11 Crichton Street in Dundee, is a late 18th century, four-storey, six-bay commercial building featuring shops on the ground floor. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar with a grey slate roof. It has pilastered shopfronts and a corniced ground floor, along with a cill band on the first and second floors and an eaves course. The windows are two-pane timber sash and case, with architraves on the first floor and margins on the second. The building also features ashlar-coped skews, corniced gable stacks, and a wallhead stack at the front.

The front elevation includes three shopfronts on the ground floor, which are mostly original or have undergone early alterations. Above the door to the Pillars public house, there is a model of the old Town House designed by William Adam in 1731, which has since been demolished. The upper floors contain six windows, with the third bay from the right being blinded.
