Description

Airieland House is a substantial, symmetrical house dating from 1895. Constructed of bull-faced red ashlar stone, it features polished chamfered dressings and rusticated quoins. The five-bay frontage is dominated by a central, advanced gabled porch supported by Ionic columns and topped with a finialled pediment. A round-arched doorway leads to panelled double-leaf doors, with a band of swag decoration positioned above the porch. Flanking the porch are full-height mullioned and transomed windows with ten lights each; the window to the right illuminates the staircase. To the left of the porch, carved masonry panels are set between the ground and first floors, featuring a decorative sunflower motif. The end bays have corniced mullioned and transomed bipartites to the ground floor, with tripartite windows above. The windows are fitted with plate glass sashes, some incorporating leaded coloured glass.

An eaves band and cornice run along the roofline. The roof is covered in slate, with tall corniced stacks, some of which have been rebuilt in brick. The west elevation incorporates a full-height four-sided bay window with a hexagonal turret roof and a spike finial. A single-storey, four-bay wing extends from the east elevation. The rear elevation features bipartite windows.
