Description
1-3 Academy Street in Dumfries is a building dated 1907. It is a two-storey structure made of red sandstone, featuring a nearly symmetrical three-bay elevation with a central gable. The entrance has a square-columned porch topped with a concave lead roof. On the left side, there is a single-storey canted bay. The windows are mostly bipartite, with the central first-floor window being transomed and corniced, and small-paned upper sashes. The roof is broad-eaved and covered with slate, featuring straight skews and ball finials. The return gables each have a single central window on both floors.
