Description
Viewfield, located at 61 Main Street in Auchencairn, is a terrace of two 2-storey houses built in the early 19th century. The houses are constructed from roughly squared granite with raised rendered margins around the windows, and they are painted.
Number 63 features a 3-bay design with a central gabled timber porch and single-light windows. Number 61 has a 2-bay layout with a widened bipartite window to the right of the door, while the first-floor windows are single-light. Both houses have sash windows with 4-pane glazing. They are topped with slate roofs, have corniced wallheads, and axial stacks, with flat skews on the end walls. Each house also has a lean-to addition at the rear.
The painted rubble walls that form the boundary to the street are significant, particularly the wall at Number 63.
