Description
Glenlochar Bridge, built around 1797, is a five-arch stone bridge that spans the Water of Ken at the boundaries of the Crossmichael and Balmaghie parishes. The bridge features five symmetrically arranged depressed arches, with a total span of approximately 312 feet. It is constructed with dressed granite voussoirs and bull-nosed cutwater buttresses on both sides of the piers. The soffit, spandrels, and abutments are made of rubble. Above the buttresses, there are blind medallions with polished margins. The bridge has a rubble parapet with dressed granite coping, a shallow splayed embrasure, and a narrow, slightly humpbacked carriageway.
