Description
The walled garden at Kirkmichael House, Parkgate, likely dates to around 1834, coinciding with the construction of the house itself. It is a large, quadrangular garden enclosed by high walls constructed of rubble stone, with portions lined with brick. The walls are topped with flat ashlar coping and feature buttresses. A lower section of the east wall supports wrought iron railings. The wall curves upwards along the north side, behind a range of glasshouses, and also rises to support symmetrically placed stacks from a boiler house. Gateways are located on either side of the boiler house range. The statutory address of the garden is The Barony Walled Garden.
