Description
This mid 19th century building is a single storey, L-plan cottage that features some Tudor architectural details. It is constructed from rubble whinstone with red sandstone ashlar dressings and has long and short quoins. The doorways are located on the short elevations towards the angle, with a lesser door positioned close to the re-entrant angle. Each remaining elevation has windows that were originally fitted with timber tripartite and bipartite casement windows, likely featuring diamond-pane glazing patterns. Some of these windows are now boarded up as of 1992, and one window still shows evidence of panelled interior shutters. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there is a brick stack with a base and diamond shaft.
The policy walls and gates consist of rubble whinstone walls surrounding the Galloway House policies, featuring two-leaf spearheaded iron gates that lead to the cliff face.
